About VendTop Media
VendTop Media is an independent publication on African history, culture and identity. We begin with Nigeria and its many peoples, and we are growing our coverage to stories from across the continent.
Why we Exist
Many African communities have had their histories written mostly by outsiders, and the results often get names, titles and origins wrong. One sided history has become the norm. VendTop Media was founded to balance it with fair, well sourced accounts that put the communities own voices at the centre.
What We Cover
Nigerian History: the origins of kingdoms, migrations and key events
Nigerian Peoples and Cultures: traditions, institutions and ways of life
Identity and Society: boundaries, belonging and how communities define themselves
Archaeology and Heritage: discoveries and sites that shape our understanding of the past
How We Work
Our research draws mainly on oral accounts told by community members themselves, read alongside published histories, academic research and news reports. When traditions conflict, we present each account, say who tells it, and note what the written evidence supports. We do not present a single version as settled when it is not.

Who Is Behind VendTop Media
VendTop Media was founded in 2026 by Ibrahim, a native of Kaduna State. He holds a degree in History from the University of Ibadan and a degree in Political Science from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. Read more about the author
